Bathrooms are usually closed in and unventilated. This is what makes them sometimes wet and smelly. These smells and moisture can create hazardous mold and mildew that eat away the walls and ceiling.
Window extractor fans for bathrooms are highly necessary for the modern-day bathroom. They help to cool down your room without using an air conditioner. With an exhaust fan, the hot and humid air leaves the room, and cool air comes in.
Installing an exhaust fan in the bathroom is not such a big deal and can be done without hassles. Your bathroom window size does not precisely matter; all you need is to know the steps involved in installing an exhaust fan.

Step To Install Exhaust Fan In Bathroom Window
1. Pull Out the Window Pane
This is the first step in installing an exhaust fan. Before anything else can be done, you need to remove the windowpane. Working with a double pane window makes it easier; all you need to do is remove it from the casing.
2. Substitute Glass with Lexan
Installing a window exhaust fan into a pane of glass is very risky and inadvisable. The glass could crack, and you would have no choice but to replace it. Instead of taking that risk, the safest alternative is to use Lexan as a replacement for glass. Lexan is a strong material that you can also see through and clean very easily.
3. Outline the Exhaust Fan on the Lexan
Trace the exhaust fan’s outline onto the center of the Lexan piece using its casing as a guide. Before drawing your outline, be sure that the case is leveled.
4. Create a Hole
Make space for the exhaust fan on the Lexan material by cutting out a hole. There are two ways to do this. The first way is to drill a hole in the material’s corners and cut it out with a jigsaw. The second way is to use a glass cutter to score it several times. The second way is more preferable than the first because it will leave a clean cut without ragged edges.
5. Substitute Window
After cutting the hole and installing the Lexan, replace the window into the casing.
6. Install the Exhaust Fan
Your window is back to its position and is ready for the installation of the fan. All you need to do is pull out the fan’s front cover to allow you to slide the motor into the casing.
7. Drill Holes
Set the case back to the Lexan and mark points for holes to use for the mounting screws. Then, remove the case and drill the holes with a cordless drill. Do this carefully and drill straight into the Lexa, not to the side.
8. Mount the Case
Put the case back to the Lexan and screw in the bolts from the outside. Please make use of locking nuts to keep them in the right position.
9. Position the FanÂ
After you have mounted the case, set the fan inside it, and secure it with screws. Place the cover over the fan and plug it into any close outlet.
With these simple steps, you can install an exhaust fan in your bathroom successfully without the help of a technician or electrician.
